Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS)
Dr. Choi and Dr. Pyun are leaders in minimally invasive spine surgery. The techniques use smaller incisions, cutting-edge surgical tools and 3D imaging to minimize trauma to the muscles and surrounding structures, enhance accuracy and reduce recovery time. We offer a range of MISS options, such as lumbar disc microsurgery, minimally invasive interbody fusion, YESS discectomy and more.

Spinal Fusion Surgery
Spinal fusion surgery involves fusing two or more vertebrae together into one bone to enhance stability. By preventing undue motion between the vertebrae, the procedure relieves chronic neck or back pain and the associated symptoms. Spinal fusion is generally considered when conservative measures fail. It can be a permanent solution for issues, including spinal stenosis, spinal instability, herniated or degenerated discs, spondylolisthesis, vertebral fracture and scoliosis.

ACDF
Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a type of minimally invasive spine surgery to remove a herniated or degenerated disc in the neck. After the disc is removed, a bone graft is placed to encourage the vertebrae to fuse. The procedure takes the pressure off the spinal cord and nerves and improves stability, which reduces pain, weakness, tingling and other symptoms.

Endoscopic Spine Surgery
Endoscopic spine surgery can usually be done on an outpatient basis. The surgeon makes a small incision and uses an endoscope attached to a camera to view the surgical site without having to open up the back. Endoscopic surgery is just as effective as conventional surgery for a range of conditions, including herniated discs, facet joint disease, scoliosis, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and bone spurs.

CT-Guided Spine Surgery
Dr. Choi or Dr. Pyun upload your CT scans to create a 3D surgical blueprint. They also take intraoperative scans so they can get a detailed view of your anatomy during surgery. CT-guided surgery ensures the treatment plan is executed precisely and helps to reduce risks and complications.

Surgical Disc Replacement
During your back or neck surgery, the surgeon removes the damaged or degenerated disc and replaces it with an artificial device. Disc replacement is a revolutionary alternative to fusion surgery and helps to preserve mobility and function while alleviating pain and symptoms.

Lumbar Disc Replacement
If you’re suffering from a worn or damaged disc in the low back that hasn’t responded to non-surgical treatments, lumbar disc replacement could be an option. The motion-sparing technique involves replacing the affected disc with an artificial device. The artificial disc acts as a cushion between the vertebrae so you can move freely without pain.
